Farm & Training

Guided by the highest standards of ecosystem, soil, animal and community well-being, Glynwood is a teaching venue for aspiring farmers and a testbed for regenerative agricultural practices.

  • Each year, we welcome several apprentices to our farm in Cold Spring, New York – three vegetable (8 months) and two livestock (10 months). In addition to hands-on experience, including formal training in the safe operation of farm machinery, our apprentices complete a comprehensive classroom curriculum geared toward farm management. A private room in-residence at Glynwood, a weekly stipend and workers compensation insurance are all provided.

  • Our Farm Business Incubator provides a stepping stone for farmers ready to build their own agricultural enterprises. We offer technical assistance, mentoring and advanced practical skills workshops for new farm businesses, tailored to their specific needs.

  • We are continually refining our resilient, regenerative farming practices to reflect the highest standards. The farm team works together to strengthen comprehensive site plans that include principles of agro-ecology, soil health, climate resilience, wildlife friendly practices, and the use on-farm efficiencies and technology. As part of their training, our apprentices help grow the food we sell to our CSA members, at our farm store and through our online market. Our vegetables are USDA Certified Organic, and we are Animal Welfare Approved (AWA) for the rearing of our grass-fed, pastured livestock. Subsidized CSA shares are available through our local food pantry and we accept SNAP.

  • We host a number of workshops throughout the year for regional farmers and farm apprentices. Please contact Dave Llewellyn for more information.
