The Hudson Valley Apprenticeship, launched in 2022, is a decentralized apprenticeship program that provides education, training and mentoring to a cohort of aspiring farmers across the Mid-Hudson Valley. The program’s focused curriculum emphasizes practical skill-building for aspiring professional farmers, and builds on Glynwood’s fifteen-plus years of experience training apprentices on our farm property in Cold Spring, NY.

Glynwood’s Livestock Apprenticeship program is for young farmers who are ready to pursue a career raising livestock and want to increase their farming knowledge and skills. Apprentices gain a solid foundation in the skills necessary to work on a small-scale diversified livestock operation. Apprentices will go beyond gaining hands-on experience and learning technical skills through working as a team member to manage Glynwood’s Animal Welfare-Approved livestock operation. The 9-month Livestock Apprenticeship aims to enhance your understanding of the principles and practices of regenerative, pasture-based production of beef, pork, lamb and poultry products.

Glynwood’s Advanced Vegetable Apprenticeship Program is for individuals who have full-time experience working on a commercial farm and who are ready to increase their farming knowledge to prepare for a career growing vegetables. Glynwood’s vegetable operation is certified organic and produces over 60 vegetable crops on 5 acres for our CSA, farm store and food access partners. We employ two distinct small-scale, diversified production systems; a low-till permanent bed system on .75 acres including several high tunnels and a mechanized, tractor tillage based system on the remaining acres. Apprentices gain a solid foundation in the skills necessary to manage a small commercial vegetable operation using both low-till and traditional tillage methods. From tractor operation to business planning, compost production to crop rotations, the Advanced Vegetable Apprenticeship aims to provide a comprehensive overview of how to manage a vegetable farm.
