Kirby retired from IBM after a 30-year career that included positions in marketing, supply chain management, education and procurement both domestically and abroad. He is currently on the Conservation Committee of the Philipstown Garden Club and serves as Captain of the Fire Police for the Garrison Volunteer Fire Company.

Kirby and his wife, JoAnn, who are life-long residents of the mid-Hudson Valley, reside in Garrison. Kirby holds an MA degree in Communications from Columbia University’s Teachers College, as well a Master of Divinity and a Master’s degree in Religious Studies, both from SUNY, with cross registration at the Union Theological and General Theological Seminaries in New York City.
