Tara Caroll
Tara and her husband James split their time between Cold Spring, New York and Bozeman, Montana. Together they run an outdoor lifestyle/outfitter retail store, Old Souls, and a hardwood flooring and surfaces company, LV Wood. Old Souls has locations in Cold Spring and Livingston Manor in the Catskill Mountains of New York where Tara is from; LV Wood has showrooms in New York City and Bozeman.
Tara’s education and work experience prior to owning the businesses was in finance and small business lending. She spent ten years in banking connecting and coaching start-ups with the financing needed to successfully establish a viable business. This experience and her entrepreneurial drive led her to establish Old Souls with James and take over the role of CFO at LV Wood.
One benefit of owning a small business is the opportunity to quickly become part of a community such as Cold Spring. Tara and James quickly found their way to Glynwood through the CSA and Farm dinners over ten years ago and have enjoyed the property, its abundant produce, and the incredible staff that serve as stewards to the land ever since.
Upon opening, Old Souls became a member of 1% For The Planet, an organization that connects for-profit businesses with approved nonprofits focused on environmental preservation and conservation. Membership involves donating 1% of all sales annually to approved nonprofits, of which there are many in the Hudson Valley.
Tara’s focus with Old Souls is to continue to spread the connection of spending time outdoors to conservation, preservation, sustainability and stewardship.
Tara and James also spend a portion of their time each year in Cortona, Italy, on a rustic property with an ancient olive grove. Together, they are discovering the nuances of natural and organic olive cultivation and traditional Italian olive oil production.
