Join us for an unforgettable evening at Glynwood for a farm-to-table dinner with special guest K Greene.
K Greene is a seedkeeper with over 20 years of experience growing, saving, and sharing heirloom, open-pollinated, and culturally resonant varieties. K founded the Hudson Valley Seed Library, which grew into the Hudson Valley Seed Company, which he cofounded with his partner, Doug Muller. Together, they grew it from a 2-acre project to a 30-acre enterprise. A signature of the seed company, K created The Art of Seed, a project commissioning original artwork that illuminates the cultural and horticultural stories held within seeds. This innovative approach to seed packaging has been showcased in over 150 venues across the US and abroad.
K's work extends from the field into community engagement and education. Beginning with a single jar of local beans at the Gardiner Library, K has trained libraries to establish their own seed libraries and helped communities advance access to seeds and knowledge. An accomplished speaker, K has delivered keynotes at venues including the Organic Seed Growers Conference, New York Botanic Garden, and University of Wisconsin-Madison, with insights featured in Civil Eats, Wall Street Journal, and NPR.
For the past eleven years, K has been part of the Hudson Valley Farm Hub. In his new full-time role as Director of Seeds and Engagement, the collaborations K has nurtured through the Seed Growing Program will remain a cornerstone of the Farm Hub while the Hudson Valley Seed Company will continue to thrive under the leadership of co-founder Doug Muller. For K, seeds have always been more than commodities; they are vessels of memory, resilience, and connection. K is grateful to be able to continue to carry seeds forward as part of the Hudson Valley Farm Hub's work and looks forward to expanding and deepening the essential roles that seeds play in fostering a resilient food system in the Hudson Valley.
