Mary Elizabeth Bunzel
Mary Elizabeth Bunzel started her career in journalism and has written for newspapers and magazines in the United States and abroad including the Boston Globe; the Los Angeles Times; the St Louis Post Dispatch; The Independent in London and Town and Country Magazine.
She has been a passionate volunteer with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation since 2002, shortly after her son was diagnosed with T1D, serving in variety of roles: as President of the NYC Chapter and then on the International Board of Directors where she is currently Chair of Chancellors.
Mary Elizabeth has a bachelor of arts in English and Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MFA in poetry from Sarah Lawrence College. Her poems have been published in both The Southampton Review and Poetry Quarterly.
Mary Elizabeth is a co-founder of The New York Stem Cell Foundation and a member of the Diabetes Advisory Committee of the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia University. She is also on the Board of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival.
Mary Elizabeth and her husband Jeff have four children and live in New York City and Garrison.
