Farming Cooperatively

Glynwood, Cold Spring, NY

The cooperative model offers many lessons and opportunities for start-up, small to mid-scale, and/or regenerative farmers – as well as the food system and economy more broadly. This day-long workshop, facilitated by Faith Gilbert of Letterbox Farm Collective, will present the practice and the theory of farming cooperatively. Participants will leave having learned about the landscape of food and farming cooperatives, logistics of legal structures and basic business plans for cooperative operations, and some of the “soft skills” needed to establish a positive and productive group culture. A variety of presenters and experienced cooperators will share their expertise through structured presentations, interactive learning, and peer to peer networking.

This workshop is for regional farmers and for people interested in better understanding and supporting the development of a cooperative food economy in the Hudson Valley. The $45 registration includes a light breakfast and lunch.
