Countryside Exchange – Chester County, Pennsylvania
The 2002 Chester County Countryside Exchange
A PROGRAM OF GLYNWOOD CENTER
Sponsored by the Chester County 2020 Trust, an affiliate of the Chester County Community Foundation
From October 16 – 24, 2002, four communities in Chester County, Pennsylvania hosted Countryside Exchange teams:
Sponsored by the Chester County 2020 Trust, all four communities approached the Exchange from a multi-municipal perspective and sought to build productive, collaborative relationships with their neighbors. The four communities also looked at similar issues: economic revitalization of the “older downtown areas”, transportation, preserving farming and farmland, regional planning and identity, community character and cultural diversity. On October 23rd, each team presented their ideas at a public forum in their host community and prepared an Executive Summary. Subsequently, the teams drafted their reports, which have been edited by Glynwood Center staff. Both the Team Reports and Executive Summaries are posted here for your review and consideration.
In February, 2003, the Glynwood Center and Chester County 2020 Trust will hold a workshop to help these communities design an implementation strategy and begin to move forward on the recommendations. Between now and then, we encourage everyone to read the reports and consider the role they can play during implementation.
