Nutrient Dense Crop Production, with Dan Kittredge

Saturday, March 28, 9:30 am – 4:00 pm; $25, registration required

At the grass roots level in the agriculture world, Nutrient Dense Crops are emerging as the newgrowing standard, and rightly so. Nutrient Dense Crops have improved flavor and longer shelf life as well as a better yield and increased resistance to insect infestation and disease. These traits are possible through remineralization, a soil fertility management practice that promotes the regeneration of soils by returning mineral nutrients to it.

This workshop will focus on the specific science underpinning and techniques needed to produce Nutrient Dense crops. The discussion will include a primer on how to begin implementing the program, appropriate equipment, and sourcing materials.

Dan Kittredge is the Director the Real Food Campaign (RFC), a project of “Remineralize the Earth”. The RFC is designed to raise awareness about and increase consumer demand for Nutrient Dense crops, the coming market standard. An organic farmer for more than 20 years, Dan has worked with farmers across the US as well as in Central America, Russia and India. He has marketed through CSA’s, farmers markets, restaurants, and health food stores. He currently has a contract with Whole Foods supplying Nutrient Dense Organic Heirloom tomatoes.
