Native Flora, with Uli Lorimer
Saturday, May 22, 10am-12:30pm; $30 for lecture at 10am | $30 for walk at 11am | $50 for both; registration required.
This workshop is limited to 25 people and will meet in the office building.
Native plants preserve biodiversity and character, and are vitally important to local wildlife and insects. Join Uli Lorimer, Curator of Native Flora at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, for a lecture and walk focusing on our native plants.
The lecture portion will focus on using native species in a formal garden setting, with suggestions about plant combinations and use of texture and form. Attendees will be given resource material for reference and will receive recommendations for other area gardens to visit for inspiration, as well as sources for buying and propagating native plants.
The walk will be conducted on Glynwood’s grounds and into the adjacent Fahnestock State Park, highlighting spring wildflowers, ferns, and ephemerals, as well as some discussion about local ecology and landscape history.
Refreshments will be provided.
To register call Anita at 845-265-3338.
