Diane Hatz, Co-Founder & Director
The Glynwood Institute for Sustainable Food and Farming

As a creative marketing visionary and social entrepreneur, Diane Hatz conceptualizes, develops and implements innovative solutions to problems with food and farming. She is currently the Co-Founder & Director of The Glynwood Institute for Sustainable Food and Farming where she not only uses her expertise to develop projects, raise awareness about and increase support for the Institute, she finds ways to help individuals and groups within the field collaborate, connect and work more effectively. She is also a TEDster and the host/organizer for TEDxManhattan “Changing the Way We Eat”.
Previously, Hatz worked at GRACE where she founded and directed the hugely successful consumer education program Sustainable Table; was executive producer of The Meatrix movies, critically acclaimed, award-winning animated films on factory farming; and founded and directed the online sustainable food directory Eat Well Guide.
She has appeared in many publications and media outlets, including The New York Times, NPR, Grist, More Magazine, Fine Cooking and Vegetarian Times. She is a prolific writer and on occasion can be found hosting or on a panel about sustainable food.
Diane has an MA in Creative Writing from Antioch University, a BS in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Delaware, and a Minor in Philosophy. In spare moments, she enjoys writing fiction and is currently working on her second novel.

Judith LaBelle, Co-Founder, The Glynwood Institute for Sustainable Food and Farming and President, Glynwood

Judith became the founding President of Glynwood in 1995, a position she continues to hold in addition to becoming co-founder of The Glynwood Institute in 2010. Her prior focus as a practicing attorney in New York City was on land conservation, environmental quality, real estate and tax-exempt organizations. Her work at Glynwood encompasses community stewardship and sustainable agriculture, which integrates all of these concerns. She writes and speaks widely about sustainable agriculture, land conservation, community development and related topics. She is currently serving as the Chairperson of the Food and Agriculture Task Force for the Hudson Fulton Champlain Quadricentennial Legacy Project and is a member of the Agriculture, Forestry and Waste Management Working Group of the New York Climate Action Council.

Krystal Valiquette Ford, Program Assistant

Krystal serves as the program assistant and researcher to Diane Hatz at the Glynwood Institute. She is assisting Diane with the TEDxManhattan conferences and with projects related to the Institute. Krystal has a MA in Food Studies, with a focus on sustainable agriculture, from NYU and a BS in Nutrition from McGill University. She is the Co-Chair of the Cold Spring Farmers’ Market board and a board member of Slow Food NYC. This summer, over 100 children in East Brooklyn will learn how to grow and cook fresh food through the Slow Food NYC garden program she helped organize.
