Judith LaBelle, President
jlabelle@glynwood.org
An attorney by trade, Judith has over 25 years’ experience with environmental issues, land conservation, real estate and tax-exempt organizations. She was a member of the firm of Berle, Kass & Case and has served as corporate counsel to the National Audubon Society and deputy director and counsel to the New York State Commission on the Adirondacks in the Twenty-First Century. In 1990, the Graduate School of Design at Harvard named her a Loeb Fellow in advanced environmental studies.

Judith became the founding President of Glynwood in 1995.
With a J.D. from New York University School of Law—and an M.A. in political science from Rutgers—Judith co-authored Rehabilitating Older and Historic Buildings: Law, Taxation, Strategies (John Wiley & Sons) and has written and spoken widely on land conservation and other topics.

Diane Hatz, Co-Founder and Director, Glynwood Institute for Sustainable Food and Farming dhatz@glynwood.org

As a creative marketing visionary and social entrepreneur, Diane Hatz conceptualizes, develops and implements innovative solutions to problems with food and farming. She is currently the Co-Founder & Director of The Glynwood Institute for Sustainable Food and Farming where she not only uses her expertise to develop projects, raise awareness about and increase support for the Institute, she finds ways to help individuals and groups within the field collaborate, connect and work more effectively.

Previously, Hatz worked at GRACE where she founded and directed the hugely successful consumer education program Sustainable Table; was executive producer of The Meatrix, critically acclaimed, award-winning animated movies on factory farming; and co-founded the online sustainable food directory the Eat Well Guide.

She has appeared in many publications and media outlets, including The New York Times, NPR, Grist, More Magazine, Fine Cooking and Vegetarian Times. She is a prolific writer and on occasion can be found hosting or on a panel about sustainable food.

Diane has an MA in Creative Writing from Antioch University, a BS in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Delaware, and a Minor in Philosophy. In spare moments, she enjoys writing fiction and is currently working on her second novel.

Ken Kleinpeter, Director of Farm and Facilities

Ken has overall responsibility for the physical plant (farm, gardens, buildings, grounds and infrastructure) of Glynwood Center. Ken was a founding partner in the first integrated sheep dairy and cheese-making operation in the United States, and later managed the Old Chatham Sheepherding Company. He also served as Director of the Farm and Genetics Center for the Heritage Breeds Conservancy.

Ken has a B.A. in Journalism from Louisiana State University

Virginia Kasinki, Director of Community-Based Programs

Virginia develops Glynwood’s training programs and community support initiatives, which are offered at the Center and in communities. Virginia has been in the lead in the development of the Keep Farming program. Before joining Glynwood, Virginia served as the executive director of a national volunteer organization.

She holds a B.S. degree from Pratt Institute, an M.S. from Purdue University, and an M.S.W. from Fordham University.

Christie Williams, Director of Development & Communications

Christie has overall responsibility for Glynwood’s development and communications efforts.  He has worked with nonprofit organizations on strategic planning, major gift programs, planned giving programs, capital and endowment campaigns, grant-seeking, e-philanthropy, and direct mail strategies and content.

Christie holds a B.A. in English from U.C. Berkeley and an M.F.A in Dramatic Arts from U.C. Irvine.  He is highly involved in community service and is the Founder and Director of Arts Cafe Mystic, a literary and musical series whose venue is the Arts Center of Mystic, CT.

Sara Grady, Director of Special Projects

Sara joins Glynwood with an impressive background in several fields, having worked as an advocate for sustainable agriculture, a media producer, and a writer.

As Director of Special Projects, Sara will identify and develop projects that complement Glynwood’s mission to save farming in the northeast, including organizing conferences, writing reports and white papers, and enhancing Glynwood’s community outreach via multimedia communications.

Prior to joining Glynwood, Sara wrote and produced educational multi-media projects that appear in exhibits, on television and online. She has worked in this capacity with the United Nations, Brown University, PBS, as well as multiple museums and other cultural organizations. Sara created  a video that illustrates Glynwood’s mission, which traveled with the 2010 Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival.

Sara has also written for Edible Hudson Valley. Her Winter 2010 article about the Hudson Valley Seed Library titled “Precious Pips” won a 2010 EDDY Award for Publishing Excellence, selected from over 60 Edible Communities publications as the Best Gardening-Focused Editorial.

Sara has a B.A. from Brown University. She is a Senior Fellow with the Environmental Leadership Program.

Whitey Williams, Farm Manager

Whitey manages all operations on Glynwood’s working farm, including livestock care and feeding, equipment servicing, fencing construction and maintenance, haying and silage, road work, and lawn care. He worked on his father’s Pennsylvania farm as a young boy and has been with Glynwood Farm since 1972.

Dave Llewellyn, CSA Manager

Dave has overall responsibility for horticulture at Glynwood, and will concentrate on expanding our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.  Dave trained in sustainable agriculture at the Massachusetts Audubon Society’s Drumlin Farm and managed organic vegetable gardens for Heifer International’s Overlook Farm for several years.  Before coming to Glynwood, he and his wife Carolyn ran a CSA business that they founded.

Dave has a B.A. in Political Science from Susquehanna University and a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Purchase College.

Lise Serrell, Gardener
lserrell@glynwood.org
Lise is trained in urban garden design, permaculture, and holds a horticulture certificate from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, where she also completed an internship. She enjoys working with Dave on the CSA program as well as planning and planting the flower borders around Glynwood. She has a keen interest in native plants and incorporates them wherever possible. Lise has a B.F.A. In dance from University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Isabel Lopatin, Manager of Administration & Technology

Isabel handles many aspects of the administration of Glynwood Center, as well as its technological systems. Before joining Glynwood she worked as a database consultant for several Fortune 100 companies in and around New York City.

Isabel attended Marlboro and Bard Colleges, and holds an M.B.A. from Binghamton University, where she specialized in both Management Information Systems and Arts Administration.
